Relief Resources

Have you ever felt that there was an emotional concern that you were facing and didn’t know if it needed to be addressed? Do you have an emotional concern or diagnosis that you want to see a mental health professional for, but don’t know whom to go to?

Find RELIEF

Relief Resources is a mental health referral service that can be of benefit to you. Finding the “right” mental health clinician can be challenging. Unlike searching for other types of professionals or services, where it is common for neighbors or family to discuss where to go, in mental health, people are often not comfortable reaching out to their acquaintances for suggestions.

RELIEF has one goal in mind, to get you to the best mental health clinician for you in your specific circumstance. What may work for another person may or may not work for you. There are many variables and considerations that make therapy successful. Just because someone else went to a clinician and was successful doesn’t mean it is the best match for you. Similarly, just because someone had a negative experience with a clinician, doesn’t mean that you can’t be helped.

How do we do it?

We have a database of hundreds of clinicians that have been met and are categorized by area of specialty, modality, location, insurance, and payment information. Our clinicians are both from our frum community and outside the community. After making hundreds of referrals a year and thousands since our inception in Baltimore in 2014, we see trends of who works best with which type of client and disorder. This information helps guide our future referrals and directs people to the best mental health clinician. All of our services are free and completely confidential.

I am ready to get help. What do I do?

Call our confidential line at 410-448-8356 and request a referral. You can also visit our website www.reliefhelp.org, where you can conveniently schedule an appointment online.

What does the process for obtaining a referral look like?

We do an initial intake where we get an understanding of the mental health concern that you are experiencing. This initial intake can last anywhere from five minutes to an hour depending on the case. The best referrals come when we talk to the patient him or herself, but we would be happy to discuss the case with whomever the caller feels is appropriate, provided that they have given consent. We do not make diagnoses over the phone, but based on the information provided, we can usually get an idea of what type of services will be most beneficial.

After the initial intake and referrals, does RELIEF provide any additional support?

Yes! Our goal is to see that all of our callers get the help that they desperately need. At timetables like one month, six weeks, and three months, we call to follow up and see how things are going. At that point, we discuss how the mental health services they are receiving are going and advise on how to proceed. We are available at any time to discuss concerns and listen to the successes!

Why doesn’t RELIEF publish resources online?

Finding the right mental health clinician can be a challenge. Choosing clinicians from a list will not only be confusing but also has the potential of being detrimental. What makes RELIEF unique and helpful is our ability to use the feedback we receive to make tailor-made referrals. This feedback can only be used successfully after having a conversation on the phone. Once all of the considerations and variables are taken into account will a referral have the best chance of being effective.
